Oregon Woman's Club hosts antique show this weekend

Four new dealers will be among the 50 who will offer their treasures at the Oregon Woman’s Club’s 62nd annual antique show on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25 at the Blackhawk Center, Oregon.

“We have some new dealers who have never been here before. They’re bringing early Americana and some great American art pottery,” said show organizer Ron Bry. “I’m very pleased with what that’s going to add to our show.”

As always, the show will offer a variety — furniture, glass, china, pottery, toys, textiles, jewelry, dolls, silver, and decorator items, all from the 1800s through the 1950s.

Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The $5 admission donation is good for both days.

Bry said he has received numerous calls about the show, both from dealers and those planning to attend.

“I’m hoping for a record turnout,” he said.

The show has drawn more than 1,800 visitors.

A snack bar provided by the Oregon Kiwanis Club will offer homemade sandwiches, soups, desserts, and beverages.

Mary Lou’s Crystal Repair, Joliet, will be on hand to repair damaged heirlooms “while you wait.”

Munda & Associates, Auctioneers & Appraisers, Freeport, will offer appraisals of small treasures for $5 on Sunday, March 30. Bring photos of large items to be appraised.

Written appraisals are also available — discuss the details with Munda & Associates at the show.

The Oregon Woman’s Club, a member of the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs and a non-profit organization, sponsors the show as its major fund-raising event and uses the proceeds to help fund various community projects and charities.

The club sponsors two scholarships for graduating seniors, donates funds and food to the local food pantry, helps the VFW with holiday food baskets and sends a student to leadership camp each summer.

The Blackhawk Center is located on Jefferson Street on the Oregon school campus.
