Pauline S. Luckey, 92, died on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris.

She was born on Jan. 4, 1920 to Charles and Helen (Paul) Stengel.

She happily recalled growing up in Mt. Morris.

She attended Stonebraker School, a one-room school, before going into town for high school.

She was baptized, confirmed and married at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris.

She attended Cornell College, Mt. Vernon, Iowa, where she met her husband, Carroll M.
Luckey. While he served four years in the Army during World War II, she was administrative
assistant to the Kable Brothers in their Rockford and Chicago offices.

After Pauline and Carroll married in December 1945, they resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She worked part‐time in the office of Arthur Grade School while raising her children and
later was Director of Christian Education at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

They were active members of First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids.

In 1974 they moved to Bowling Green, Ky. where Pauline was president of the garden
club, investment club, Alzheimer’s support group and active at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

In 1996 she moved to Petaluma, Calif., to live with her daughter before moving to Pinecrest, in her hometown of Mt. Morris in 1999.

She was a gentle presence to her family and friends. She cared about them, and shared her Christian beliefs by her actions.

There was no better example of God’s loving presence in our lives. We will miss her and thank God for the blessing of Pauline in our lives.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Elizabeth Mora, Gold River, Calif.,  and Stephen (Elva) Luckey, Sedalia, Mo. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carroll; and sisters, Velda Saxby and Anna Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, with Rev. Steven Erickson officiating .

Arrangements were completed by Finch Funeral Home, Mt. Morris.

Graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, Ky., on Friday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m.
