Two former OHS players earn football honors

A pair of former Oregon High School players earned post season honors following the 2011 football season at the University of Wisconsin Platteville.

Pioneer juniors Nick Snyder and Ryan McWethy were both named to the first team all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for their efforts this season.

Snyder was named a first team linebacker and McWethy was named to the first team as a defensive back.

McWethy led the Pioneers in tackles for the 2011 season with 59, and he was also tied for second on the team with three interceptions.

He also finished with a fumble recovery, six tackles for loss, and one sack.

Snyder, who was named to the 2010 all-WIAC honorable mention team, had the second most tackles for Platteville with 53 tackles including five tackles for loss and two sacks.

He also forced one fumble and blocked one kick during the season.

The Pioneers finished the 2011 season with a record of 7-3, and they were 5-2 in WIAC play. It was the best finish for the team since 1990.
