Tell county officials how you feel about industrial wind turbines
Dear Editor,
Very soon the Ogle County Board will have the opportunity to act on the WECS text amendments and determine the rules that will control industrial wind turbines in our county.
Will the board’s decision agree with your opinions or not?
If you have not told them how you feel, you cannot blame the county board if they vote against you.
There are a small number of county landowners that have been quite vocal supporting industrial wind farms.
They have “the ear” of some of the county board members.
Will the squeaky wheels get the grease?
Some county board members will vote their personal opinions; others will vote the opinions of their constituents.
Who will win? Time will tell.
Currently, each county district has six county board members.
Each of us could influence six votes when the final decision comes.
Do all six of your county board representatives know how you feel?
If you only tell one or two of your representatives you are giving the squeaky wheels the advantage.
Please call all six of your county board representatives and tell them how you feel.
Ask your neighbors to do the same. Do not assume that your board members know how you feel.
Much of the support for the industrial wind turbines is centered in the western part of the county.
Do most of you truly support them or are you part of a silent majority?
Speak out now! Let your voices be heard. Call your county board members; all of them. Don’t put it off.
If you are unsure who your county board members are, you can find out by calling the office of the Ogle County Clerk at 815-732-1110.
