A Byron police officer was arrested last week on Wisconsin charges of possession of child pornography.
Illinois State Police Captain Jim Winters from District 16 said Ricardo Concepcion, 48, Rockford, was arrested Jan. 26 at the Byron Police Station.
Winters said the investigation was initiated by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, and the state police were asked to make the arrest.
Winters declined to discuss the specifics of the case because it is still under investigation.
He said the charges and complaint against Concepcion are from Kenosha County, and the case will be prosecuted there.
After his arrest, Concepcion was taken to the Winnebago County Jail, where he was picked up Jan. 28 by Kenosha County authorities, Winters said.
Byron Police Chief Todd Murray was unavailable for comment Tuesday and did not return a phone call.
