A student’s accomplishments on the wresting mat and in the classroom were acknowledged by Polo School officials Monday evening.

Jake Peterson, a senior at Polo High School, attended the school board meeting to receive congratulatory comments from board members.

Superintendent Christopher Rademacher, read a letter that was presented to Peterson.

It read:

“The Polo Board of Education and Administration would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you for earning the Illinois High School Association Class 1A State Individual Wrestling Tournament 285 Pound Division Champion.

“All the time, energy and effort you have given to the wrestling program has been remarkable.  The board recognizes the commitment this ‘championship effort’ took throughout the year and the sacrifices you made to make your dream a reality.”

The letter continued by saying Jake’s “commitment to excellence generated a lot of excitement in the Polo School as well as the whole community.  It is refreshing when a true student athlete can excel on the wrestling mat as well as in the classroom.”

Polo School Board President Paul Mitchell presented Peterson with the letter.

In other business the board:

• Learned from Andy Faivre that ISAT testing will begin next week at Aplington Middle School.

• Heard that March 9 is CPO night at Culver’s in Dixon from 5-7 p.m.  Ten percent of all sales during that time will be donated to the school.
